    2. Introduction The Patients Helping Fund Society (PHFS) is the first charitable medical non-profit organization based in the state of Kuwait. It was established in 1979 by a group of Kuwaiti physicians. It is concerned with assisting the poor patients regardless of their nationality, race, or religion.

    5. Authorization As a NGO, we always work in cooperation with authorities concerned. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Works in Kuwait, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait, and the embassy of the country concerned.

    6. Background In 2000 the PHFS started sharing efforts worldwide to combat TB which increased the rate of mortality and morbidity specially in the poor 3rd. world countries. In 2001, we thought that it would be better to adopt the WHO strategy in TB control, namely; DOT.

    7. Action plan We reviewed TB Statistics in several countries. Findings indicated that TB cases are more prevalent in some countries like Chechen, Azerbaijan, Somalia, and some countries in Central Asia.

    8. We contacted WHO Office in Eastern Europe and the Ministry of Health in Azerbaijan. In 2003, we supported, in collaboration with WHO, health Centre to combat TB in Mogadishu under the supervision of Al-Manhal Society (NGO in Somalia).

    9. In 2006, we signed an agreement between our organization and WHO (EMRO) to treat 1000 TB patients in Afghanistan (Project) in total cost of USD 36 (Only thirty six thousand US dollars) as a first stage. More stages are to follow soon depending on the progress of the project.

    10. Future plan. Continuing our support to TB control efforts in Somalia. we are still studying the possibility of applying the same model of Afghanistan in Chechen. We contacted the Coordinator WHO TB Control Programme- Office of the Special Representative of the WHO Director-General in Russia
