  1. Betting Types Explained – Sports August 2014 www.kruzey.com.au

  2. Margin Betting AFL margin betting is a simple bet that asks you to pick how much your selected team will win by. If Richmond was to win by 1-39 points, you would receive a payout of $4.30. If they won by more than 40 points you would receive a $24 payout.

  3. NRL example If the Newcastle Knights were to win by 1-12 points, you would receive a payout of $6. If they won by 13 or more points you would receive a $17 payout. Keep in mind that with a bigger payout comes more difficulty and risk.

  4. How to do line betting Think of it like applying a head start (or handicap) to the team you are choosing to bet on. An AFL line bet might look something like this This means that if you bet on Essendon, they would have to win by more than 17.5 points for you to receive $1.92 payout. On the other hand if you bet on Melbourne they could win, or loose by less than 17.5 points, and you will receive the $1.92 payout.

  5. NRL example This means that if you bet on Manly, they would have to win by more than 12.5 points for you to receive $1.88 payout. On the other hand if you bet on Cronulla they could win, or lose by less than $12.5 points, and you will receive the $1.88 payout. This is intended to make the game equal, giving you a true bet on which team performs better on the day compared to their recent form.

  6. How to do head to head betting A head to head bet is a simple bet where you choose which of the two teams will win, regardless of the score. AFL Example - say Carlton (@ $1.95) is playing Collingwood (@ $2.30) and you bet $10 on Collingwood and they won, you would get back $23 NRL Example - say The Sea Eagles (@ $1.95) are playing The Broncos (@ $2.30) and you bet $10 on the Broncos and they won, you would get back $23. Football (Soccer) Example - say Liverpool (@ $1.95) is playing Manchester United (@ $2.30) and you bet $10 on Manchester United and they won, you would get back $23.

  7. How to do live betting Live betting allows you to bet on a game that is in progress. Bet types can vary, your bookmaker will show what AFL, NRL or Soccer betting markets they have at any given time on their website. It is important to note that to place a live bet you must actually call your bookmaker. This is due to government regulations.

  8. Accumulator Betting • A Accumulator is multiple bets placed and the one time, with the “winnings” from each turning into the wager on the next. • The effect is substantial if all of your bets are successful. This type of bet can be used in most sports including AFL, NRL, Horse Racing and Football (Soccer) • See below example of a 3 leg parlay: • Starting with a bet of $10 • Bet 1 wins at $3.30 = $33 • Bet 2 is now placed with $33 • Bet 2 wins at $4.80 = $158.40 • Bet 3 is now placed with $158.40 • Bet 3 wins at $1.90 = $300.96
