1. Wrapping, Moving And Storing A Painting A treasured painting often reminisces of the older and sweeter times. In case you have a painting that had been gifted by a loved one, it's importance is too high to be careless. Well, the carelessness might not be exactly in your part when moving and storing is considered, but the loss is going to be. One can't really take moving or storing in a self-storage in Erdington out of the equation, so what can be done to keep things safe? Here is a moving and storing guide to help you solve the dilemma and come out glorious with the lovely painting and the memories associated with it intact. If a canvas is concerned, a hint of fingerprint or dirt can ruin it completely. Unlike what most people tend to think, glass is not really going to help. If anything, the glass is making the entire painting even more fragile. The below mentioned steps will keep your prized possession safe and sound. Wrapping: The slightest bump or tension can crack the glass, if not shatter. Wrapping your head around the process becomes easier when you know how to wrap the painting well. For glass covered paintings, putting a tape in the shape of a large 'X' across the glass helps a lot. The next step is covering the painting in a plastic wrap while using 100% cotton gloves to avoid any finger marks or dirt. Once done with plastic, a few slits in the back will help the painting breathe. Appropriate sized boxes and bubble wraps come to the rescue in the next step. Moving: Moving a painting to self-storage in Erdington or to a new place across the city might be a nightmare if not handled well. Firstly, make sure the painting is not in a stack. There should be nothing above the painting nor the painting above a stack of other items. In either of the cases, you and your beloved painting are going to be at the losing end. Avoid packing any heavy items next to the painting.

2. Storing: The bubble wrap and cardboard are your storing saviours. Using an additional cardboard box can be also considered an ideal step in keeping things safe. The thing about painting is, different paintings have different storage needs. If there is a unframed painting, the best way to store it would be to wrap it and keep it in the tube. In the case of a pastel painting, it has to be stored picture side upwards. However, some general storage tips will include keeping it away from direct sunlight or damp areas if you are opting for self-storage in Erdington. Climate Control is the key term here and it should be checked as early as possible when finalizing the storage. These are the 3 key steps and tips involved in keeping your lovely painting safe, come whatever may.
