Avastin Injection Avastin Injection is used along with conventional chemotherapy to improve metastatic breast cancer, advanced non-small-cell lung cancer, advanced kidney cancer, advanced rectum and colon cancer. It is a humanized monoclonal antibody. It is used to block vascular endothelial growth factor A and angiogenesis. Avastin is also used for the treatment of d epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer. Avastin has a Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF-A) which interacts with its receptor to generate angiogenesis. It inhibits VEGF-A and blocks angiogenesis (growth of blood vessels). It works by interrupting the interaction of VEGF-A to its receptors. This medication hence acts against overexpression of these receptors that are common in several types of cancer.
