  1. What are the Treatment Options for Autism or ASD (autism spectrum disorder)? The most effective treatments and interventions for autism often vary from person to person. However, most people with ASD respond best to highly tailored programs. Most likely, for the best outcomes, considering treatment at the early stage of symptoms or diagnosis is advisable. There is currently no standard treatment for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). But there are many ways to minimize symptoms and maximize improvements. People with ASD are more likely to make the most of all their abilities and skills with appropriate treatment and interventions. In some cases, treatment can significantly reduce symptoms and make everyday life easier for people with autism. Here are some of those treatment methods. The Behavioral approach One of the best and evident treatment for ASD is ABA Therapy. The behavioral approach focuses on changing behavior by understanding what happens before and after the treatment. Behavioral approaches have the most evidence for treating ASD symptoms. They are well-received by educators and medical professionals and are used in many schools and therapeutic clinics. A notable behavioral therapy for people with ASD is called Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA encourages desirable and undesirable behaviors to improve various skills.

  2. Cognitive behavioral therapy Cognitive-behavioral therapy is divided into specific stages of treatment. However, it can also be individually tailored to the patient's strengths and weaknesses. Studies have shown that this treatment can help people with some forms of ASD manage anxiety. It may also help some people with autism cope with social situations and recognize emotions better. Physical therapy Some children with ASD have difficulty controlling body movements. For example, you may have an abnormal gait or handwriting problems. Physical therapy can improve your child's motor skills. Focusing on posture, coordination, balance, and muscle control can improve your child's social life and well-being. Occupational therapy Occupational therapy can help children with autism develop everyday skills useful at school and home. Sessions are focused on individual needs, so your child can also learn how to use tools to customize and complete tasks. Examples of such devices include voice-to- text apps for children with poor handwriting and whiteboards for children with poor verbal communication. Educational therapy Children with autism spectrum disorders often respond well to tailored sessions of treatments. Successful programs typically include a team of specialists and various activities to improve social skills, communication, and behavior. Preschool children who receive intensive and individualized behavioral interventions often make great progress. Speech therapy Speech therapy is an important treatment option. Speech therapy with a licensed speech therapist can help people improve their ability to communicate and express their needs and desires better. Speech and language therapy is often most effective for individuals with ASD when the therapist works with the child's teachers, support

  3. staff, family members, and peers to facilitate functional communication in a natural environment. Some of ASD patients are non-verbal and unable to develop their skills of verbal communication. Gestures, sign language, and visual communication programs are often useful tools for improving communication skills. Nutritional therapy Some children with autism also have digestive issues and bone density issues. Additionally, some children may exhibit an aversion to certain tastes and textures, such as soft tomato juice or the lumpy texture of rolled oats. Therefore, meeting their nutritional needs is important, but it is also a difficult endeavor. Pharmacological approach There are no drugs that treat the core symptoms of ASD. Some drugs treat coexisting symptoms that help people with ASD improve their ability to function. It helps to deal with self-harming issues. Medications can help manage conditions such as seizures, sleep disturbances, stomach and other gastrointestinal problems, and co-occurring mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. Early intervention As mentioned above, research shows that early diagnosis and intervention of autism are likely to have a large positive long-term impact on symptoms and subsequent skills. Some of the children with ASD, typically developing with sessions, by now had already begun to regress at or near age two.
