Acid Mine Drainage • Sulphur is bound in organic mararels and in Fe sulphides (marcasite and pyrite) • Why? Originally from sulphates in groundwater and reduced by bacterial action in coal formation
Acid Rain • From burning of coal releases SO2. Needs S scrubbers
