An organization can safeguard its employees and those under its supervision by putting in place an OHSMS. Respect the law's obligations. Promote ongoing development. The standards for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system are outlined in the international standard ISO 45001. Organizations can enhance their OH&S performance and manage risks with the help of this approach. Objectives: •Respect all health and safety laws. Responsibilities – Loss Prevention Team •Shall have overall responsibility for the inspection, testing and maintenance of fire systems and shall ensure that the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually checks are conducted as per the NFPA standards, repairs are made, and all required licensing and servicing/maintenance is completed. •Regular visual inspection will be carried out by LP team

Area owner •As part of the regular inspection and observation program (HSD-GR-PR-023) all area owners are responsible to ensure that fire systems are available and in good condition and report any abnormal, defective, or missing fire protection equipment or device to loss prevention team via e-mail. Fire Safety Maintenance Contractor •Fire safety contractor should be registered and licensed by the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence (Ref. UAE Fire & Life Safety Code-2018) •Contractor should provide competent personnel for the required tasks/activities.

General Requirements •Each work area/facility in Emirates Steel Arkan are provided with the fire protection system, including fire detection and alarm system and firefighting equipment appropriate to risk present and as required and approved by the ADCD. •All fire protection systems and firefighting apparatus shall be inspected, maintained, tested and serviced as per manufacturer’s recommendation and as prescribed by the UAE fire and safety life code, ADCD and / or NFPA standards to ensure that it is always working in good condition and available for immediate use whenever required. •All fire protection systems will be provided with a unique labelling identification number. The unique labelling and identification number will be based on location, equipment, and sequential number as per ESA standard (eg.RM1-FE-00001).
Report on the Effectiveness of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System at EM Steel •Tagging should be done by the fire maintenance contractor on all inspected fire equipment’s with the information of the system, date of inspection/test or maintenance, who has conducted the inspection and frequency of inspection as per the recommendations of NFPA, manufactures instruction and UAE Life Safety Code - 2018. •All fire Protection systems are inspected /tested/ maintained as per the maintenance schedule. •The inspection check list provided by the LP team must be filled by the fire maintenance contractor while the scheduled inspection/testing/maintenance is conducted. • LP team must maintain the register of checklists. Report on the Effectiveness of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System at EM Steel •Maintenance and repairs shall be performed by fire safety maintenance contractor competent personnel in accordance with the NFPA Standards and contractual agreement. •Parts or components used to maintain or repair the fire apparatus shall meet or exceed the original manufacturer’s specifications and ADCD. •Routine testing and inspection shall be conducted on all fire protection equipment in frequencies conforming to NFPA standards indicated in this procedure. •Annual testing and inspection shall be conducted for the detection and alarm systems and fixed fire protection systems specified in the fire protection inspection checklist.
Report on the Effectiveness of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System at EM Steel •High priority shall be given to repairing, replacing, or recharging out of service fire protection equipment. •Inspection, testing and maintenance plan will be provided by FMC prior to start of the month which will help LP Team to have a prior understanding of the fire equipment’s that are getting inspected and the area in which the inspection is conducted. •LP team will mention the area and fire equipment to be inspected while obtaining the Permit to work to the End-user department. •Permit to work in compliance to Permit to Work Procedure (HSD-GR-PR-003) is obtained for the inspection/testing/maintenance from the end-user department. •Impairment will be requested for schedule maintenance by fire maintenance contractor. •Non-conformance will be issued as per supply chain nonconformity identification and control procedure (SCD-GR-PR-026) to the fire maintenance contractor if they fail to abide by the maintenance/inspection/testing schedule which is in line with NFPA and UAE Life and Safety Code.
Report on the Effectiveness of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System at EM Steel Frequency The frequency of inspection is specified in the test and inspection checklist or as specified below: Whereas: - •I: Inspection done fire maintenance contractor and monitored by LP team. •T: Testing done by fire maintenance contractor and witness by LP team •PM: Preventive maintenance done by fire maintenance contractor and monitored by LP Changes in the fire protection system •All alterations to existing or new fire protection equipment shall be reviewed by LP team following the management of change procedure (CEO-GR-PR- 011). •Relevant equipment list, specification, drawing will be updated considering the changes and communicated to concerned end user department.
Report on the Effectiveness of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System at EM Steel Records •The LP Team shall keep records of all minor / major maintenance and servicing. •Checklist: refers to fire protection equipment test & inspection checklists. These checklists are to be completed by firefighting equipment maintenance contractor and submitted and verified by Loss Prevention team as part of the performance of annual (AT&I) and routine (RT&I) tests and inspections of fire protection equipment. •All records generated during procedure implementation shall be retained for a minimum of 5 years or longer as required by the relevant standards and regulations and indicated on the department Master list of records (QAD-FM- 003).
Report on the Effectiveness of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System at EM Steel •“Status report” refers to “fire protection equipment status report.” This report is internally prepared by Loss Prevention team because of routine tests and inspections (RT& I) of fire protection equipment to identify any eventual deficiencies and discrepancies and submitted to EH&S Manager for review.
