Traditional telephony (before IP) • Users had 2 cables on desk, one for phone and one for computer (LAN cable) • All phones, analogue and digital were wired back to the associated extension PBX card • All PSTN, ISDN trunks were wired directly to a trunk card in the PBX • If the phone or fax had to be moved to another location then a tech had to re-jumper the phone • If a new phone was required and there is no spare slot on the relevant card, then a new card and/or chassis was required • Hence PBX could take up more physical space, hence, associated power increases etc www.yesoptusbusinesscentre.com.au
