But our dream of a perfect (and wireless) Utopian society—where everything works in an almost magical fashion—is becoming closer and closer at hand, especially with more cable-less technologies emerging in the market.

  1. Five Top Models of Wireless Charging Devices for Mobile Devices What doesn’t our collective vision of a futuristic Utopia have that the present world has in abundance? Wires. For a world dominated by wireless technology, we still are very much reliant on wires and cables. But our dream of a perfect (and wireless) Utopian society—where everything works in an almost magical fashion—is becoming closer and closer at hand, especially with more cable-less technologies emerging in the market. Although wireless chargers have been a hit or a miss—rising and falling from product ranges over the last couple of years—the mobile industry is seeing a major shift in the general public’s attitude as more companies choose to pursue wireless charging more seriously. Today, you’ll find in the market different types of wireless charging devices that use varying technologies, ranging from radio charging to inductive charging, resonance charging, and more recently, power mats or pads that only require placing devices down on a literal mat or pad to charge their battery. Below are five different models of wireless charging devices you’ll come across in the market today: • Samsung Wireless Charger – Samsung users can get this wireless charger at $60 on the average. Ideal for fast charging, the Samsung wireless charger leaves your micro USB port free for other uses (as well as for wired charging when a wireless charger isn’t available). Should your smartphone or device not be compatible with the charger, a back cover is available to set the device up for wireless charging. • Nexus Wireless Charger – Produced by Google, this compact charger plugs into your standard electrical outlet and can be attached to any desk, table, countertop, or any area convenient for charging. • PowerSquare – Taking wireless charging to entirely new heights, PowerSquare offers an advanced solution that covers a much larger charging area, which likewise eliminates the need to align devices with a typical charging pad. What’s even more convenient is that PowerSquare can charge multiple (Qi compliant) devices at the same time. • Intel Charging Bowl – Intel introduced this technology at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show. It is a wireless charging bowl that can charge any compatible device thrown into it, including smartphones, tablets, and the like. • uBeam – The company uBeam is developing its own ultrasonic wireless charging technology that steers away from the classic magnetic induction principle, and instead channels ultrasound technology, which allows for charging devices over much longer distances. Conceptually, this wireless technology project involves converting electricity to sound and transmitting through the air via ultrasound, which is then captured and converted back to electrical current by the receiving device.
