  6. And there is more…. • A new website: www.OregonStudentAid.gov • A new scholarship application: Roll out began Nov. 1, 2011 and will be completed by Sept. 1, 2012.

  7. ASPIRE ASPIRE(Access to Student assistance Programs In Reach of Everyone) is Oregon’s mentoring program for middle school and high school students that began in 1998. Today ASPIRE serves students in 137 sites. Every student receives one-on-one mentoring and leaves high school with a purpose and a “plan of choice” to begin executing now for long-term success.

  9. $1950 flat award • All students all sectors receive the same amount • One time – one date for award notification to schools • OSAC will notify students directly of the award • All other policies remain the same Oregon Opportunity Grant 2012-2013

  12. IMAGINE Every student has adequate finances so that college is affordable, debt is minimized and the student graduates as a positive contributor to a strong Oregon economy.

  13. New Considerations for FA Policy • Financial Aid is an economic development plan • Equity is vital • Student loan debt is excessive • 40/40/20 is a major goal for Oregon • Solutions are inspiring, exciting and understandable

  14. New Ideas of Affordability • Daly Fund of Lake County Creates College Going Culture with a 90 year old scholarship. • Promise Programs – nationwide • State increase the Oregon Opportunity Grant so that first two years of education are fully funded using the Shared Responsibility Model.

Legislative Activity 2012 • OSAC has increased legislative involvement. • OSAC is seen as a necessary contributor to 40/40/20. • OEIB will be reviewing all education commissions/boards to ensure the functions are maintained but the form may change in an effort to reduce boards. • Minimal OSAC impact (scholarship for STEM, combining degree authorizing entities) for 2012 session.
