What is gypsum board? • Gypsum board is a group of panel products that made of a core, which is noncombustible and it is included primarily of gypsum, and a paper surfacing on the face, back and long edges. • Gypsum board is one of building materials that covered by the term “gypsum panel products”.

Fig. 1 – Horizontally Applied Gypsum Wallboard Showing Joints and Framing • Gypsum board is different from other panel-type building products, such as plywood, hardboard, and fiberboard, because of its noncombustible core and paper facers. • Gypsum wall board creates a continuous surface that suitable for most types of interior decoration to join together.

  4. Uses • Gypsum board is use to make interior wall and ceiling.

  5. Types of gypsum board • There are two types of gypsum board: Regular and Types X • It is also divided in different thickness in specific uses
