Rise in Thai Rice Exports According to Charoen Laothamatas, president of the association, rice exports in November totaled 1.007 million tonnes worth 23.01 billion THB (657.7 million USD), an increase of 19.9% and 23.3% over October. The increase in November rice exports was primarily due to increased shipments of polished and jasmine rice as importers sought to replenish declining stocks amid a 15-year global rice prices high. Polished rice exports totaled 659,694 tonnes in November, a 31% increase over October. According to Charoen, the main markets for Thai polished rice are Indonesia, the Philippines, Algeria, Iraq, Malaysia, Japan, Brazil, and Cameroon. November exports of parboiled rice totaled 91,303 tonnes, an 11.2% decrease from October. From January to November of last year, Thailand exported 7.945 million tonnes of rice, a 14.7% increase over the same period the previous year. During the period, rice exports brought in 4.61 billion USD for the Southeast Asian nation, a 28.9% increase from the previous year.
