  1. Understanding Macular Edema: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments The condition Cystoid Macular Edema (CME), is characterized by an accumulation of fluid in the macula. This central part of the retina is responsible for clear and sharp central vision. The macula is located behind each eye. It plays an important role in reading, driving and recognising people. CME is caused by small cysts that form in the retinal layers. This leads to swelling, distortion and blurring of central vision. It can be difficult to see fine details and complete tasks that need sharp vision. Symptoms of Macular Edema: These symptoms may vary from person to person depending on the cause of the eye problem and the severity of the condition. However, some common symptoms include: 1. Blurred or wavy vision: Blurred vision is also one of the main causes of early signs of macular edema. For example, lines that appear straight to a normal person may appear wavy or distorted to someone with macular edema. This phenomenon that bothers patients is called metamorphopsia. 2. Loss of central vision: macular edema As this problem progresses, the patient may experience a loss of central vision. For example, it may be difficult to see details in a note or to focus on specific objects. 3. Washed out colors: People with this problem may find colors look a little washed out. This means that patients with this problem may perceive colors as less vibrant or more faded than normal. This is because fluid accumulation affects the ability of the macula to process color accurately. 4. Difficulty reading or recognizing faces: People with this problem can see the letters and faces of people indistinctly. People with this problem lose central vision. This makes it difficult to read small letters and even recognize familiar faces. 5. Increased sensitivity to light: Individuals with macular edema are more sensitive to bright lights or glare. That is, it becomes difficult for the eyes to see the light. Causes of macular edema:

  2. There are several causes of macular edema, which can be caused by many conditions based on different factors. Here are some of the most common reasons: 1. Diabetic retinopathy: Diabetic patients with diabetic retinopathy have high blood sugar levels. Thus, it damages the blood vessels in the retina. This causes leakage in the macula. 2. Retinal vein occlusion: obstructions in the retinal veins cause blood and fluid to leak into the retina. This leads to macular edema. 3. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD): In wet AMD, abnormal blood vessels develop under the retina. This causes the fluid to leak. This causes macular swelling. 4. Inflammatory Eye Diseases: Conditions such as uveitis that cause inflammation in the eye lead to the accumulation of fluid in the macula, leading to macular edema. 5. Post-operative complications: Eye surgeries such as cataract removal sometimes lead to macular edema. 6. Genetic disorders: Some genetic conditions, like retinitis pigmentosa, can also cause macular edema. Ayurvedic treatment for macular edema symptoms: There are several Ayurvedic treatments for macular edema. Effective treatment is available at Vedicmed. Details of those treatments are as follows: 1.
