  1. Hyperacusis - Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments Hyperacusis, also known as hyperacousis is an exceptional hearing disorder distinguished by an enhanced sensitivity to certain frequencies and volume ranges of sound (a collapsed tolerance to usual environmental sound). A person suffering from serious hyperacusis may find it difficult to tolerate common environmental sounds such as the sound of a car engine, dishes clanking, and more such kind of sounds. On the other hand many people suffering from hyperacusis may have the normal hearing as it can occur in one or both the ears. Hyperacusis is often accompanied by tinnitus. Both the diseases have a proliferation of around 10–15% and hearing loss as the main risk factor. According to the report of the Hyperacusis Network, 1 in 50,000 people have hyperacusis and that 1 in 1,000 people who have tinnitus will also have hyperacusis.

  2. Symptoms:- A person suffering from hyperacusis can show symptoms like ear pain, distress, and general intolerance to normal environmental sounds. Hyperacusis can also result in Crying spells or panic attacks, anxiety, stress, and phonophobia. Additionally, either Hyperacusis can rise quickly or develop steadily over time. Someone suffering from Hyperacusis disorder, one may: feel uncomfortable, • Cap their ears or strive to flee from the noise • feel angry, tense, distressed, or anxious • Causes:- There are some conditions that are associated with hyperacusis include: Autism spectrum • Lyme disease • Meniere's disease • A Migraine • Posttraumatic stress disorder • Depression • Apart from this, Hyperacusis is also seen in patients who undergo head trauma such as airbag deployment, jaw or face surgery, infection in the inner ear, and more. Along with this, loud noise exposure such as single intense sound like a gunshot, listening to loud noise without hearing protection etc, is one of the major causes of hyperacusis. Treatments:- Depending on the cause, there are no specific restorative surgical or medical approaches that can treat hyperacusis, although treating any underlying cause may help to solve the problem with time. As we already described that there are no specific medicines or operations that can treat hyperacusis. Below written factors may help a person suffering from hyperacusis: • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) - This aims to assist you to examine and modify the way you think regarding annoying noises to reduce distress, improve your avoidance behavior in order to overcome from hyperacusis. • Lifestyle Changes - Learning relaxation procedures, listening to calming music, not to avoid noisy situations, and not using earplugs or muffs (these may make your ears more sensitive).
