  1. Presentation to Alumni Committee April 20th, 2007 • Information and Technology Services (ITS) – • Tom Copler, ITS Director • Jeff Hague, Network Manager

  2. Windows Live @ edu Overview • Windows Live provides enhanced communication services for students • Email, plus IM, spaces, mobile, photo shares, increased storage, etc. • RMC maintains control of membership and administration • But we are able to out source network server space, antivirus, spam control, etc. to Microsoft for student email …. and potentially save considerable dollars

  3. Windows Live @ edu Overview cont’d • The College has long been interested in providing email service to alumni • but until now it just wasn’t feasible • with limited staffing, • Limited server storage space, • and the cost of licensing thousands of email boxes on our Exchange Server.

  4. Questions/Comments • Questions ?? • ITS will await word from the Alumni Office for a decision of this committee to go forward with plans to offer current alumni RMC email accounts - ………..alumni@rmc.edu • As we are all aware, “there is no such thing as a free lunch”……. • Microsoft will restrict/limit advertising on student email accounts • Only Microsoft products • But third party advertisements will be part of the alumni accounts much like Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. email accounts.
