5. Practices of using coffins in funerals Coffins are also known as caskets. However, in North America, there is a distinction between 'coffins' and 'caskets'. By a coffin, they refer to a tapered octagonal or hexagonal box, used for the burial, while casket refers to a burial box that is rectangular in shape and has a split lid for viewing the deceased. The coffin can be buried directly in the ground, placed inside a burial vault, or cremated. 6. We proudly sell caskets manufactured and/ or distributed by two Canadian companies; Imperial Caskets of Winnipeg and Exquisite Enterprises of Melville, Saskatchewan. We have sold products from these companies for many years and continue to be impressed by the quality and workmanship of both. In addition to displaying a wide variety of caskets from these companies, we also have catalogues from both with more choices available to your family. 7. Crematorium Roblin Some families may opt for cremation, followed by a funeral service. They may or may not choose to have a visitation (viewing) of their loved one prior to the cremation. The urn selected by the family may or may not be present at the service. The service may take place at a church, our chapel or other location. Some families may prefer to not have any form of service, gathering or visitation of their loved one. In this case, we assist the family by transferring the deceased and arranging for the cremation.

8. Bob and Diane are assisted in serving families of the Parkland district by Funeral Attendant Alice Styba, and part-time employees Kevin Kowalyk and Cyril Lawlor. In today’s world of big business, it is sometimes difficult to tell who actually owns a funeral home. Bob and Diane have consciously decided to keep their business a small, family-owned operation. 9. Funerals Parkland At Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home we display a wide variety of cloth covered, veneer, hardwood and metal caskets to meet most preferences and budgets. At Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home, we display a wide variety of wood, metal and composite urns to meet most preferences and budgets. We display urns that are meant to be buried and others that are meant to be kept as a cherished keepsake. Several of our urns can be personalized with pictures or etchings. We also carry several catalogues from different companies with many other urns that are available.
