  1. Step by Step Guide on How  to Setup a Podcast Studio  There are millions of content pieces created every second across the globe, in the                             form of blogs, videos, podcasts, advertising, designing, and many more.    For years, we were happily writing blogs, articles, etc., putting our opinions and                           ourselves in front of our readers. In fact, according to internet live stats, there are                               thousands of blog posts being published every second.    With the evolution of Apple’s iPhone, capturing and storing images, videos became                         easy. Whereas, Google and Facebook provided platforms for people to show the                         content they were creating. With each passing day, year, and social media                         platforms, new forms of content kept emerging.        These platforms not only helped people sell their products but they also helped                           them create an industry of influencers, tech reviewers, fashion or food bloggers.                         Like our favorite tech reviewer Marques Brownlee. He has around 10 million people                           following him on Youtube.  1

  2. Now these content creators have moved from creating just text, images, and videos                           to podcasts. They have started using this as a medium to reach their users and                               share their opinions on various subject matters.    There are thousands of podcasts uploaded on various topics. Millions of people                         listen to them to gain knowledge on a regular basis. You might be listening to them                                 as well.  While listening to those, has a thought of starting your own podcast channel ever                             crossed your mind?    I know, it’s crossed mine.    It’s one of the best ways to build a brand around your name.  So, if you are thinking of adding another dimension to your content, then this blog                               is just right for you.    This article dives deep into the gadgets required to set up your own podcast                             recording studio.        2

  3. Microphone:    It is the main and basic requirement for any podcast recording studio. With a good                               quality mic, you will be able to generate good quality audio for your podcast                             channel. You should be aiming for clear and crisp audio.    As a newbie, I can understand you must be confused and wondering what type of                               microphone you should buy. First of all, don’t rush into it and before purchasing                             thoroughly research and make sure to check out reviews. Also, consider investing                         in a mic stand which will make using mic easier for you. To start your search, check                                   out two mostly used microphones for podcasts i.e. AT2005usb and Electro-Voice                       RE 20.    Headphones:    Just like microphones, they are basic and must-haves. It is important because you                           will have to listen to your recordings before publishing. You will also need them                             while recording your podcasts. Prefer choosing Behringer HPX2000 or Sony 7506                       because they come at a reasonable price and have the noise cancelling feature.      3

  4.   Mixing:    Mixers are a much-needed asset in starting your own podcast studio. You need to                             take care of various things while setting up a mixer. There are basic and advanced                               levels of mixers available in the market.    Understand your need and use before purchasing them. The basic level mixer                         consists of features like control over volume, panning, etc. whereas the advance                         level covers more than that, like mixing various audios.  One thing you need to check out while purchasing a mixer is the mix-minus                             feature. This feature lets you split your audio into two different channels.                         Additionally, it even lets you have full control over your voice and lets you easily                               mix and match.  Editing Software:    After recording, you will need software to edit out some extra noises or add some                               tunes or background music. So, make sure to purchase an easy-to-use software                         which can help you set your content apart.  As you are a beginner in this industry, I would recommend you to start with an                                 open source, free software. It is better to use them rather than investing in costly                               software at such an early stage.  4

  5. Cables:    Now comes the most important and confusing part of setting up a podcast studio.    Cables!    But, only at the initial level. We promise you will start loving them once you                               understand how important they are for everything. Let’s understand the cables                       required for a podcast studio in brief.    ● XLR Cable:  Also known as Microphone cable, XLR cable has two ends i.e. male and female and is useful in connecting two different pieces of equipment. You                                                   can use it to connect your recorder with a mixer.    ● Quarter Inch ¼”:    Quarter Inch cables come in size of 6.35mm and are known as the bigger                             version of 3.5 mm jack. They are useful for connecting microphones to                         mixers. Currently, with the advancements in mixers, most of them allow you                         to connect XLR cables and Quarter Inch cables in the same port.    ● Pop Filters:    Purchasing pop filters is an individual’s choice. I would definitely recommend                       5

  6. buying them. They clear out the slurring of alphabets like P and S. They are                               cheap and give your recordings a smoother finish.    ● Headphone Splitter:    Audio splitter is useful when there are two people recording podcasts. They                         make it easier to quality check the recording at the same time. Your audience                             will be using a tiny audio splitter as well, if they want to share the podcast                                 with each other. Some audio splitters come in the 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable configuration.                                Wrapping it up:    Setting up a podcast studio might be a difficult task, but once you set it up, creating                                   content will be a breeze. It will give you the freedom to create more and connect                                 better with your audience.    This Blog is Originally posted here:  https://www.sfcable.com/blog/step-guide-how-setup-podcast-studio/  6
