Local anesthesia will also be injected to numb your gums.

  3. 3 Types of Anesthesia for Wisdom Tooth Removal • General Anesthesia • Your dentist might offer general anesthesia during special situations. • You may inhale medication through your nose or have an IV line in your arm, or both and later you’ll lose consciousness. • Your medication, breathing, temperature, fluids and blood pressure will be monitored by the surgical team. • There’s no pain and no memory during the procedure.

  4. Main Procedures for Wisdom Tooth Removal • To expose the tooth and bone, dentist will make an incision in the gum tissue. • Removes bone that blocks access to the tooth root • If easier to remove by pieces, tooth will be divided into sections. • Removes the tooth • Cleans the site of the removed tooth of any debris from the tooth or bone • Even though it’s not important, the wound will have stitching to make it heal. • Places gauze over the extraction site to control bleeding and to help a blood clot form.
