  2. Turtle Facts • The words tortoise and turtle mean different things in different parts of the world. • Sea turtles are the fastest turtles. • Most tortoises live in Africa.

  3. TURTLE A reptile that has a hard bony shell, toothless jaw, arms, legs, and head can all fit in their shell. TORTOISES A turtle that lives on land. Definitions

  5. The Leather back • They live in water and in the winter they go near the equator because it is warm there. • They weigh 700 to 2,000 pounds and measure 4-8 feet. • They eat seaweed and jelly fish. • Their predators are: whales and raccoons because they eat turtle eggs.

  6. Russian Turtle • Russian turtles live in the Middle East, China, desert areas and Russia. • They are 6-8 inches long and can live to be 50 years old. • They eat plants, leaves, dandelions, and other veggies. • Their predators are: fox, dogs, raccoons, coyotes, ravens, blue jays, and hawks.

  7. Green back • They live in North and South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. • They eat sea grass, and algae that comes from the sea floor. • Their predator’s are pollution, and commercial fishing. • Trash is left all over the place and the trash looks like food to them and they eat it , and it gets stuck in their throats. They get very sick.

Galapagos • They live on the Galapagos Islands which is 600 miles west off the coast of Ecuador, and can be found in Madagascar. • They weigh up to 657 pounds and it is 3-9 feet long and live up to 200 years. • They eat flowers, grass, bananas, apples, lettuce, and veggies. • Their predators are rats, pigs, donkey, and cattle.

Snapping Turtle • They live in water, ponds, city lagoons, Florida, lakes, swamps, Mississippi, Illinois and Kansas. • They weigh 100-400 pounds and are 5-7 feet long. • They eat snakes, fish, frogs, crayfish, snails, and young ducks. • There are 3 types of snapping turtles: Florida, alligator, and the common.
