  2. For small business owners using spreadsheet and ledgers, moving to a cloud based accounting system can be daunting. Many have different reasons for putting it off.

  3. Businesses that run on manual systems are wasting valuable time and working inefficiently, and are at risk of losing their competitive edge in the market place.

  4. Remote Access If the business has day-to-day internal accounting competence, many software packages that are installed on the desktop allow for remote access. To gain access, the desktop computer at the business must be left on so that it can be accessed by the CPA, so security issues should be reviewed as a precautionary step. Remote Access works best when there is a dedicated computer for accounting and only one person accessing the data.

The data will reside on the hosting company’s computers and updates will be done by the company. Hosting also allows simultaneous users allowing more than one person assess to accounting functions.
