  2. Introduction • A Vernier Caliper is a precision measuring instrument. • It is used to measure internal and external dimensions. • It can measure length, diameter, and depth accurately. • It provides more precise readings than a simple ruler.

  4. Working Principle The Vernier Caliper works on the principle of difference between main scale division and vernier scale division. Least Count = 1 Main Scale Division - 1 Vernier Scale Division

  5. How to Take Reading • Note the main scale reading just before zero of vernier. • Find the vernier division that coincides with main scale. • Multiply coinciding division by least count. Total Reading = Main Scale Reading + Vernier Reading
