It is located in an upland area on the Saraswati and Khan rivers, which are tributaries of the Shipra River. • Indore was founded in 1715 as a trade market on the Narmada River valley route by local landowners, who erected Indreshwar Temple (1741), from which the name Indore is derived. • Indore is the most-populous city in the state. By: .com • Plummeting from a height of 300 meters, the Patalpani Waterfall is the most scenic photo stop in Indore. • These roaring falls are enveloped by refreshing mist and dense verdure making them the favourite getaway picnic spot. • The monsoons swell the falls and may make it risky for close encounters causing accidents.   12. By: .com • Bada Ganpati was built during the reign of Queen Ahilya Bai Holkar in 1875. This temple is located at the western end of M G Road in Indore. • The statue of Lord Ganesha housed in this temple is 25 ft in height, which makes it one of the largest statues of Lord Ganesha in the world. • The construction material used in carving the deity of Lord Ganesha comprised limestone, jaggery, bricks, soil and water. • Soil used for construction of this idol was brought from Varanasi and Mathura. As the temple was built by built by Sir Hukamchand Seth in the early 20th century, this temple is often called as Seth Hukamchand Temple. • This beautiful temple is a sacred place among people of Jain religious community, as the idol of Lord Mahavira, who was the founder of Jainism, is the presiding deity in the temple. • Made from black onyx, the idol of Lord Mahavira is adorned with colourful glass beads.
