  3. Sir Francis Bacon • Bacon grew up in a financially successful family • Mother was a “governess of Prince Edward” • Father: Seal Keeper for the Queen • He received a good education and graduated from college • Authored: Novum Organum and The New Atlantis

  4. Thomas Jefferson • Graduated from William & Mary focusing on Philosophy • Learned about John Locke, Isaac Newton, and Francis Bacon • Joined the Flat Hat Club - A secret organization
