  1. ISRO- EOS-01 (Bhaarateey antariksh anusandhaan sangathan) ISRO- EOS-01 Bhaarateey Antariksh Anusandhaan Sangathan Why in news? ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) has successfully launched the earth observation satellite EOS-01. India’s latest earth observation satellite EOS-01 was launched onboard the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C49). Nine satellites, including four each from the US and Luxembourg and one from Lithuania, have also been launched in the Mission .

  2. What is ISRO? The Indian Space Research Organisation or is the national space agency of the Republic of India, headquartered in Bengaluru. It operates under Department of Space which is directly overseen by the prime minister of India while chairman of ISRO acts as executive of DoS as well What is PSLV? The PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) is a four-stage expendable medium-lift launch vehicle of ISRO. The PSLV can launch low earth orbit satellite as well PSLV can launch light satellites into Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO). PSLV is the third generation launch vehicle of India. It is the first Indian launch vehicle to be equipped with liquid stages. What is Vikas Engine? Vikas Engine is the workhorse liquid rocket engine powering the second stage of India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), second stage and the four strap on stages of Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle (GSLV) .

  3. What are upcoming ISRO Launch? ISRO had planned more than 20 satellite launches in the fiscal year 2020-21, including high profile missions like Aditya L1, the first exploratory mission to Sun, and unmanned Gaganyaan, the precursor to India’s first manned space flight. The earth observation satellite EOS-01 has been placed in the 575 km orbit. The EOS-01 is for applications in agriculture, forestry and disaster management support. What are the uses of EOS? -EOS-01 is nothing but another Radar Imaging Satellite (RISAT) .

The Cartosat series of satellites were meant to provide data for land topography and mapping, while the Oceansat satellites were meant for observations over sea.
