  2. History of Lohri: There are many beliefs as to the origins of Lohri. According to some believers, it’s actually traces back to the name of the wife of SantKabir, Loi. Lohri was also the sister of Holika, who perished in the fire while trying to kill Prahlad while her sister Lohri survived due to her piety

  3. Facts of Lohri? • Lohri is a festival of harvest. It is a cultural celebration of the winter solstice. Lohri comes during mid-January. Lohri is celebrated by people in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh. • This harvest festival is celebrated to mark celebration and sharing. • It is mark of the end of winter and the coming of spring. • It is believe that Lohri has the longest night of the year.

  4. How to celebrate Lohre? • During the day, children form groups and go from door to door singing Lohri songs of “DulhaBhatti”. People, in turn, give them ‘Lohri’ which comprises of candies, sweets, rewri, peanuts, popcorns and sometimes money. Returning these kids empty-handed is considered inauspicious. • The scale of Lohri celebration increases when it is a couple’s first Lohri after wedding, or a kid’s first Lohri after birth. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to join in the celebrations
