The importance and legends concerning the Lohri festival are numerous and those link the festival into the Punjab area. It's believed by most that the festival commemorates the death of winter solstice. Celebrated mostly by Sikhs and Hindus throughout the India, marks the end of winter and is traditionally thought to welcome sunlight to the northern hemisphere.
