  1. Varicose Veins: Causes and Treatment

  2. Introduction • Varicose veins, in short, means swollen and enlarged walls in the veins that usually come on the legs and feet. They may appear to be blue in colour or dark purple. They can be lumpy, a bit twisted or even bulging in appearance. There are other symptoms like aching and unusually uncomfortable legs. It results in swollen feet or ankles and can lead to a throbbing sensation in the legs. The symptoms can get worse with certain weather conditions. The skin can get dry, flaky or thin over the affected vein. So with the fluctuating climatic conditions of Delhi, choosing the best hospital for varicose veins treatment in Delhi, is necessary.

  3. Causes Varicose veins are caused due to weak vein walls or valves. Inside the veins, there are tiny one-way valves that open to help the blood flow through and then it closes to prevent the blood from flowing backwards. So at times, the walls of these veins get stretched and thereby they lose their elasticity which causes the valves to get weak. So when the wolves do not work or function properly it causes the blood to leak and flow backwards when this happens the blood will start collecting in the veins thereby making it appear swollen or enlarged. Sometimes there are no concrete reasons to understand why the walls of these veins stretch and weekend. Some people can develop this condition for no apparent reason as well. A varicose surgeon in Delhi, could help you reach the best conclusion of the cause and treatment

  4. Here are a few common reasons or symptoms that can aggravate the prevailing condition: • Gender • Sometimes gender plays an important role in this condition women are a bit more likely to get affected by varicose veins than men. Research explains that this could be because female hormones become relaxed in their vein walls letting hormones be the chemicals that are produced by the body and the changes could be caused by pregnancy premenstrual syndrome or even menopause.  • Family History • Genetics also play an important factor in developing varicose veins. The risk of developing this condition is a lot higher if you have a close family member who already has this condition. This suggests that this condition could happen partly because of your genes, which are the units of the genetic material that you inherit from your parents.

  5. Ageing •  Age is also a determining factor in this condition. As you tend to get older your veins will begin to get more relaxed or loosen their elasticity, thereby the valves inside them will stop working well. • Lifestyle • You are occupation may not be a primary cost for the condition to be present. But it could be a contributing factor. Some jobs require long periods of standing erect and that could increase the risk of getting this condition. This is mainly because your blood will not flow easily when you stand for too long in the same position thereby restricting the smooth flow of blood.  • Many women can find their veins in proof once the baby is born. Sometimes other physical conditions contribute to this condition. This can be from a previous blood clot present in the body a tumour within the pelvis or even abnormal blood vessels.

  6. There are other lifestyle causes that become aggravating factors to this condition. Being overweight tends to put extra pressure on the veins. This will increase the pressure of the valves to send the blood making them more vulnerable to leakage.  This applies even to the pregnancy phase. During pregnancy, the blood present in the body will increase to help develop the baby. This puts the extra strenuous effort on your veins. The hormone levels tend to increase during pregnancy and that causes the muscular walls in the blood vessels to relax, which puts you at an increased risk. This may also develop as the uterus begins to develop. This happens because the womb expands and puts pressure on the veins within the pelvic region which causes them to become varicose.

  7. Tight Apparel • Sometimes, tight clothing that you wear for a long makes your body restricted. This will restrain the blood flow and contribute to this condition. • When to Consider Treatment? • You should consider consulting if you feel these veins are causing you any pain or discomfort. If your veins are sore or irritated or if there is an aching in your legs that irritates at night hampering your sleep, you should immediately choose to consult. If you at worst times feel that it starts bleeding. • If you have heavy legs where your muscles feel tired or sluggish after any physical activity or if you find veins bulging in appearance or you find veins bulging in appearance, consider it for treatment.  • The doctors will consider the causes and family history if any, and sometimes even recommend an ultrasound scan. As this condition is not uncommon, around one-third of many adults have this. If left untreated or overlooked, this condition can even cause discolorations on the skin. Severe varicose veins can even lead to ulcers or sores on your skin.

  8. Treatments • Try At Home • As this is a relatively common condition, there are treatments for this. You can try elevating or relaxing your legs above your waist many times throughout the day to pump up your blood flow and decrease any pressure present. • You can try wearing socks that compress your veins and reduce or ease or discomfort. It will help your veins from stretching and improve the blood flow. • Injection Therapy • Sclerotherapyor injection therapy will be provided by a doctor if necessary. This method lets your healthcare attendant inject a solution into your vein this will help them stick together and eventually help the blood flow.

  9. Laser Therapy • Laser therapy is suggested in some cases. It involves a minimally invasive procedure called endovenous thermal ablation to close off any damaged vein. Sometimes vein surgery is also called litigation and stripping where the surgeon cuts off the affected vein to prevent the blood from pooling. They may even remove the wing to prevent the varicose veins from reoccurring.  • As a few complications and side effects are present for every treatment, choose the healthcare centre that provides you with all the best efforts and resources.
