  2. A query may arise in the mind of young draftsman that in case there is some difference between the words and figures, which one would prevail and why. Difference between Words & Figures: Please note that if there is a difference between the words and figures, normally the written words get weight age and prevail over the figures. The simple reason behind such theory is that no evidence can even be shown that there was mistake in written words which were themselves written by the parties themselves.

Difference between printed and written words: If there is difference between printed and written words in a document, the written words will prevail, as the written words are supposed to qualify the printed form used for the purpose. The courts should try to reconcile the written and printed terms in a deed, but if it is not possible, then the written terms should be given more weight, than the printed ones .The written words are given more weight because these have been selected by the parties for the expression of their meaning and the printed words are generally formally adopted equally to their case and to that of all other parties in similar circumstances.
