  2. Germany is facing a serious shortage of skilled workers post-pandemic across several industries. To tackle this, the government of Germany has introduced some crucial changes in EU Blue Card requirements to make it more attractive to foreign nationals who wish to settle in Germany. A Blue Card is a residence permit that is valid across Europe. It is designed to attract highly skilled workers from non-EU countries to work in Europe. Recently, the government of Germany introduced a range of changes to its immigration policies to attract more foreign workers to work in high-demand occupations. It is the job seeker visa in which the government made some crucial changes, giving one more reason to apply for this.

  3. What are the key changes made in the German EU Blue Card? • Following key amendments have been introduced to the German EU Blue card: • Lowered minimum salary requirement • Knowledge of German language is no longer necessary • Applicants can now apply for the EU blue card even with a normal degree in the specific sector. • Holders can now change employers and also bring their family members to Germany with ease. • IT Specialists can get a Blue Card without a university degree.

  4. What was the need to bring new changes? There is a shortage of around 2 million skilled workers in Germany. The problem exists across industries from teachers to social workers to IT specialists. The country needs a strong influx of skilled workers who can fill this labor gap and make effective contributions to Germany’s economy. But currently the country's immigration process is hampered by bureaucracy. Germany hopes to combat the shortage of workers with the EU Blue Card that will enable foreign workers with the right skills to come to Germany hassle-free. The German Federal Government has stated that there are over 240,000 jobs needed to be filled in by 2026.
