  1. S Some Tips On Choosing A Good ome Tips On Choosing A Good Hunting Lodge Hunting Lodge The deer hunter, the wing-shooter, anyone that wants to book a few days or longer at a hunting lodge in the American South or Southeast, knows – or should know – that finding the best facility is of great importance. Sub-standard accommodations and food, unhelpful staff and other negative issues can quickly make your visit unpleasant and even ruin it. And then, of course, the whitetail deer hunter or wing-shooter wants to know that they are offered quality buck (and does where and when that is allowed) and healthy, full-bodied birds since hunting trips never come cheap when the total cost of such a trip is considered. Multiple factors combine to make sure your trip goes smoothly, or not. The first factor to consider is the quality of the birds and buck you expect to be hunting. Make sure you find a lodge of which consensus is that they always offer their visitors quality buck and birds. For example, if you want to visit, say, Alabama in the South, or another good lodge in the region, for purposes of hunting white-tailed deer, you will want to know that you book at a lodge renowned for the quality of their animals and for the quality of their facility – and great service in every respect. It depends on one’s expectations. If you want to pay less and rough it, you may choose a lodge with few good facilities, self-catering options and packing everything before you leave home. If, on the other hand, you demand a different level of service and comfort, you would certainly look around for those lodges that do meet your requirements with regard to accommodations, food, assistance from staff, help with tracking animals, loading buck after the hunt and the like. Many experienced hunters will tell you that a successful hunt depends largely on the lodge you choose. If the lodge is known for offering quality animals and those facilities you demand to feel relaxed and comfortable, chances are that your experience will be positive – and especially if, in addition, you leave with quality meat and even an admired trophy. Good hunting lodges are known in their region: they are often easily discerned from the lesser ones by their animal herds, their facilities and the quality of their service and attention. Finding these is not necessarily difficult. If you live in the region, you may have contact with other hunters that have visited good lodges and are happy to share their experiences with others – also to refer and recommend a specific lodge for their whitetail deer or pheasants, or dove, for example. If you are from further away and you want to find a hunting lodge in Alabama or elsewhere in the South, you may want to read articles about southern lodges, which the successful ones are, and why hunters would promote them. And, of course, the internet is full of good information too. The best hunting lodges have

Because most hunters often look forward to their next hunting trip, they may look beyond the animals they want to hunt; they may be looking at issues such as accommodation, relaxation after the hunt, making friends. At good lodges one has great opportunities in this regard. Some lodges may actually supply certain equipment that the hunter arrives without – find out before you leave on your trip (if this applies to you) what the arrangements in this regard are. Many hunters enjoy taking the family on a hunting holiday. These hunters will have to find out if there are limitations in this regard since not all lodges are child (and pet) friendly. Make sure about these issues right at the beginning of the planning stages of your trip. The above serves as a good starting point. Individual requirements may force the hunter to look at more issues, but most hunters that want to find a great hunting lodge should give the above some thought.
