  2. Setting Year 1830 – 1843. Paris, France. The Beginning of The French Revolution. Clockwork Robots are part of normal Society, with High Profile Job and Positions.

  3. Setting Second Stage- Mind has began to deteriorate. More robot technology can be used to reverse the effects, but they never "feel" like the same person Third stage- Only fragmented memories exist within the shade, but technology keeps them active. Fourth Stage- Shades become "corrupt" begin lashing out at their surroundings. The robot technology has made them rather powerful as well. • “Shades” also exist in this world. • Shades are Humans that have been reanimated using Clockwork Robot Technology. • Because Shades are a rather new at the time, the technology isn't perfect, they can become corrupt. • First Stage Shade - Just reanimated. Has the memories of the deceased. Live like normal humans/robots

  11. Story - Overview In Paris they are attacked by a shade trying to capture Anna. This is Francis’s first hostile encounter with a Shade. Because the Shade cannot be reasoned with, Francis has to destroy it to protect Sophie. This causes him a lot of distress, but Sophie seems unfazed by the event. Early July 1830 • Francis discovers Sophie on his doorstep crying. She tells him she has lost her parents. He decides to try and help her. She doesn’t seem to remember specific details about her parents, just that she lost them. He is not aware that she is a Shade. • Sophie tells Francis of her childhood. He takes her into Paris, to help her remember where she lost her parents/where they live.

  12. Story - Overview • Francis goes to Liberty to discuss Sophie's problem, and to find her parents. She finds herself unable to actually help him, as their is trouble in the streets • Late July 1830: During the revolt Francis and Sophie are attacked by a group of Shades, The 4 Horseman, they kidnap Sophie and warn Francis not to follow them. He chooses not to follow them, believing that she was killed during the attack, leaving her behind. • He partially looses his memory of Sophie after the attack, specifically her appearance and his time with her • King Charles X sent these shades to capture Anna, since he knows of his downfall. • The player has he option either follow Sophie’s or Francis’s journey now between 1830 and 1848

  13. Story - Overview Francis and Sophie’s Jouneys, between 1830- 1848 Sophie If the player follows Sophie, we see her reunited with her now exiled family, but they reject her. Her deterioration begins to take place because of this. She is traded between different groups of Humans, Robots and Shades. She eventually end up in he hands of Liberty, who tried to save her. Sophie has now deteriorated into stage 4, and begins lashing out at her surroundings, calling for Francis to come save her, despite the fact she is no longer in any danger • Francis • Francis tries to return to his normal life, but is haunted by feelings of guilt that he cannot place. • Francis becomes reclusive • He eventually receives a letter, which restores his memory of Sophie, and goes out to find her. • What he doesn't’t know is the letter is from Liberty.

  14. Story - Overview • After the journey of the specific character is shown, the character takes control of that character for the remainder of the game. • Both Characters go after The 4 Horseman, in an attempt to try and find the other. • The end story depends purely on which character they are with.

  15. Gameplay • 1830 • The player has control of both Sophie and Francis, and must use both of them when completing puzzles. • During combat player has to use Francis, but Sophie does gain an EMP device to disable shades to make them easier to defeat. • Combat is basically hand to hand, with swords later on to change the pace of combat. • 1848 • The player has complete control of a single character. • Francis- Francis’ combat changes very little, although he is obviously stronger. • Sophie- Sophie has almost super human strength, able to throw objects, pull enemies. Her EMP device has been adapted to use a bit like a laser gun/ lasso.

  16. Gameplay • Combat will be similar to that of Fable 3. • Depending on the enemy effects how much a character needs to defeat an enemy. • Humans & Robot enemy's may be submissive, and surrender • Shade enemy's will not give up, and must be completely destroyed to defeat them • The player also has the option to flee from combat with NPC. • If a character dies, the player must go back to their previous check-point. • Puzzles will be in the style of Legend of Zelda or Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time (Clank Levels), using both characters to complete puzzles. • This could be something like setting off multiple switches, moving objects to create a path for the other character or similar puzzles.
