  3. As new species evolve, populations become reproductively isolated from each other. • There are three isolation mechanisms as new species evolve. Isolating Mechanisms

  4. Reproductive Isolation occurs when the members of two populations cannot interbreed and produce fertile offspring. • They can develop in a variety of ways, including 3 other isolations. Reproductive Isolation

  5. One type of isolating mechanism, behavioral isolation, occurs when two populations are capable of interbreeding but have differences in courtship rituals or other reproductive strategies for behavior. • Figure 16-11 Behavioral Isolation
