  5. Marriage – Created by God • Foundation of Genesis 1 – created in the context of God’s greatness • Knowing, growing and having a part in relationship with an eternal God (John 17:3; Romans 12:1-2) • Faithfulness in matters of eternal significance (Matthew 25:23)

Marriage – Centered by God • Mystery of Genesis 1:27-28 • Mirroring the image of who God is and what God has done (Genesis 1:27; Ephesians 5:22-32) • Value of the woman & a place of safety (Genesis 2; Ephesians 6:12) • Return to the normative design of God for marriages (Genesis 1-2) – the nurturing of godliness

Marriage – Called by God • Context of Genesis 1:28 – consecrating impact of God in this world • Credibility of the family in bearing fruit (John 15:8) • Discipling our next generations (Psalms 78:5-7; 2 Timothy 2:2) • “The education of our children begins one hundred years before they are born.” (Harold Wilkes)
