  1. Where have you been all my life? Dance/Movement Therapy Laura Remillard- University of Tampa

  2. Research Question:Through this project, not only do I hope to learn about a possible future career, but also why it took me seventeen years to finally hear about it. I hope to discover why dance/movement therapy is so unknown in the dance world and what is being done to increase awareness about it. Hypothesis: I believe that if dance teachers, as well as teachers in the school system, taught or introduced dance/movement therapy as much as they do other types of physical therapy, dancers and students would be more aware of what dance/movement therapy is, who can benefit from it, and what must be done to become a dance/movement therapist.

  3. What is Dance/Movement Therapy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR7G0hAnCMw

  4. Benefits? • “Through creative movement, dance, song, games and music, the dance therapist works with groups and individuals to enhance self-expression, self-image, self-esteem, creativity, and awareness of others” (Performing Arts Center of Metro West). • “…cancer, children with special needs including Autism and Down syndrome, children with developmental issues, survivors of war and torture, epilepsy, dementia, and children who were victimized by trafficking, rape, and many other cases” (Capello 25-34).
