  2. Lesson Objective The student will compare and contrast the plant and animal organ 
systems. Subobjective 1: The student will explain the functions of the four organs in a plant. Subobjective 2: The student will compare different organisms' 
system functions for maintaining homeostasis.

  5. The Flower The flower contains the sexual reproduction organs. The flower attracts insects, which are needed to carry 
pollen between plants, resulting in pollination. To investigate the parts 
of a flower, click on here.

  7. The Stem The stem is the organ that holds a plant's leaves 
upright and facing light. It carries water and minerals to the leaves, and carries 
food around the plant. The stem is important for nutrition, excretion, and

  9. The Leaf Click on the boxes. The leaves are the organs of photosynthesis. They make all the food that the plant needs. Leaves contain chlorophyll, which uses light energy to change 
carbon dioxide and water into glucose. Leaves have tiny pores, which allow essential carbon dioxide in 
and waste gases (oxygen) out. Leaves are important for nutrition and excretion. Can you name all of the parts?

  11. The Root Click on the boxes. The root of a plant provides anchorage, so the plant 
does not blow away or fall over. With its root hairs, the root provides a large surface 
area to help take in water and minerals from the soil,
