  1. Keystone Prep: Literature! With Mrs. Summerville and Mrs. Nyeholt

  2. Keystone Prep Sessions • Algebra, Biology and English (Literature) • There is only one more week of prep sessions after today! So make sure to attend! • No VC Classes will be held the week of tests.

  3. Testing Dates • The Keystone test dates are: • May 13th-LiteratureMay 14th-Algebra May 15th-Biology • There will be a morning and afternoon sessions.  Students with last names A-L will test in the mornings. M-Z will test in the afternoon. • IS staff will contact students to schedule-if you have a question about if you are to take a test-please ask your IS.

  4. Open Ended Questions Today we will focus on how to answer open ended questions. Today you will be writing a RESPONSE!  What are open ended questions? • Open ended questions require specific information. It cannot be answered with a simple yes/no. You will need to provide specific feedback from passages and provide your feelings (most of the time) as well.

  5. What is the best way to answer an open ended question? Use the ACE method: A: Answer the question as written C: Cite from the text using details and quotes to support your answer. E: Explain how your citations support your answer.

  7. Let’s Take a Look! Take a look at some of the question you will be answering today from last years Keystone Lit Exam. 

  8. Consider BEFORE you read the piece of text • What should I be looking for? • What details do I need? • Highlight/Annotate The question

  9. Non-Fiction and Informational!

  10. Consider AFTER you read the piece of text • What are they asking? • What details should I include? • What did I Highlight/Annotate? • Structure and Outlines! The question – let’s practice!
