ExPLORE • The draft framework “A National Information Literacy Framework Scotland : Skills foreveryone” by Christine Irving and John Crawford (www.caledonian.ac.uk/ils/framework.html) suggests that by the end of P7 pupils should have the skills necessary toplan, locate, organise, represent and evaluate information. • As pupils move further up in second level (ie Secondary School) and approaching National 4/5 - the competencies they will need increase. Plan • Define the task. • Brainstorm what is already known, its relevance and other areas of the topic to be considered (KWL chart). • Draw up a list of questions to answer - to get the right information you must ask the right question. • Create a mind map if helpful. • Make a note of keywords to use when searching. Represent • Required format. legible, logical, understandable, and answers the original task. • Ensure that the way the work is presented is appropriate to the audience. • Bibliography • Check through and redraft as necessary. • Hand in/present the completed work.
