Educational Programs: Rotary Centers Funding • 6-Year commitment from Trustees to support University Centers • Major donor naming opportunities for outright gifts to Permanent Fund • District support needed to fund 70 annual scholarships  2002-03: US$1.75 million needed  2003-04 and beyond: US$3.5 million needed annually

Educational Programs: Rotary Centers Funding Pioneer District Any district which commits from its DDF the full amount ($50,000) needed to fund a Rotary World Peace Scholar selected for study at the Rotary Centers for the 2002-04 and 2003-05 years will be known as a Pioneer District and will receive appropriate recognition.

Educational Programs: Rotary Centers Selection Criteria • Appropriate academic background to gain admission to University Center Master’s program • Demonstrated leadership skills • Demonstrated commitment to peace through professional, academic, volunteer experience • Proficiency in a second language • Proficiency in language of proposed study country

Educational Programs: Rotary Centers Example A: • a journalist and Foreign News Desk Editor, with firsthand experience in the Yugoslav war, who has a professional interest in conflict resolution through the media Example B: • a chemical engineer who worked for theUN World Food Program in North Korea andas a trainer of trainers in various countries; wants to study the theoretical and academic side of conflict resolution
