  1. Installing Soundproof Walls and Ceilings for Homes, Offices or Specialty Rooms

  2. Soundproofing walls and ceiling for studios • For studios, it is necessary to build a completely separated soundproof room often referred to as a “Box in a Box” design. Acoustiguard.com located in Toronto Canada has all the soundproofing products in stock ready to ship. • Barrier components like mass loaded vinyl is available from stock for soundproofing walls, ducts or pipes. • Abortive insulation materials like Roxul are still required between the joints and studs of walls and ceilings. • Fiber glass or mineral wools may provide roughly the same insulation and acoustic values when tested new but mineral wools do not settle in the cavities like fiberglass and may, over time provide better long term results.

  3. What are the materials used for soundproofing walls and ceilings? • Mass Loaded Vinyls • Decoupled barriers for pipes and ducts running through these spaces. • Genie Clips and Green Glue • Drywall and acoustic caulking • Isolating brace brackets • Iso-sill sill plate isolation rubber stripping along with isolation Washers. • Mineral wool insulation like Roxul • Privacy Board and Return Air Silencers • Putty pads for electric boxes

  4. Maintaining the privacy in offices • Most offices have open spaces between the top of the demising walls and the roof deck above. This results in unwanted sound travel between work spaces - work flow and productivity get disturbed at best and dangerous privacy issues occur at worst. • Privacy Board and Return Air Silencers are an acoustic soundproof system that provides a sound barrier above the partition walls. • Privacy Board is very easy to install and it takes a minimum amount of time. Installation is much faster and cleaner than using drywall. • Privacy Board is the most affordable and effective soundproofing system for restoring office privacy. Sound masking systems may be considered for open area offices.

  5. Why do you need soundproofing for walls and ceilings? • Between offices unwanted sound transfer is an annoyance or possibly a legal liability while sound transfer between living spaces can be extremely stressful leaving one or both parties very unhappy. • There is no such thing as 100% noise resistance in a building assembly but careful consideration needs to be taken when deciding on any building assembly based on current or future use. Always count on building assemblies underperforming laboratory results by at least 5 dB. • Relaxed atmosphere with out stress – especially important in residential applications. • No disturbances for sleep. • Longevity and property value preservation.
