  3. Don’ts for Local 1000 Members: • Don’t whine or come across as too angry. • Don’t guess, speculate or make things up. • Don’t be brought into conflict.

  4. Don’ts for Local 1000 Members: • Don’t feel you have to fill an embarrassing silence. • Do not answer for organizations or individuals. • Do not volunteer information.

  5. Things to Avoid • The phrase “I think.” • In-house language or jargon. • “No comment.” • Comments like “that’s a good question” or “does that answer your question.” • Looking directly into the camera.

  6. ***Important*** Everything you say is “ON THE RECORD” and can be used by the reporter. From the moment the reporter walks in the room…you are “ON.” Be friendly but always be aware of what you say. Don’t be caught off guard. It’s best to remember there is no such thing as “OFF THE RECORD.”
