1. New Wheel Loader for Sale – What to look out for Several factors need to be considered when purchasing a new wheel loader. Different operations require various sizes of wheel loaders with different operating capacities. The amount, size and weight of materials which need to be moved on a daily basis, the speed of materials cycling through the hopper, use of excavators and bulldozers alongside the wheel loader, are just some of the questions that should be answered before purchasing. Fuel efficiency greatly affects operating costs and the lifetime of machinery. Fuel wastage can occur when the machinery used has too little or too much horsepower for the job. Other factors affecting fuel efficiency include idle time, travel pattern and maintenance. On certain wheel loaders, the five-speed lock-up torque converter improves fuel efficiency, while the Tier 4 emissions solution used affects it differently. Engines which use SCR technology are able to run at peak performance, which leads to faster throttle response, while lower temperatures are maintained and 20% better fuel efficiency is observed. Wheel loader models have different arm configurations, which need to be understood in order to select a suitable one. Most have the standard Z-bar configuration, and others available include the tool carrier (XT) and extended reach (XR) configurations. XT models are useful in operations with forks or for handling palletized and bulk materials. XR ones on the other hand are more suitable for agricultural operations. There are several additional options when purchasing a new wheel loader. Counterweights improve lift capacity, traction and machine stability. Ride Control gives operators full control of their load retention by automatically reducing loader arm bounce at high speeds, and also consists of adjustable speed settings. Visibility can be improved when working at night by going for machines which have floor-to-ceiling windows, and can be enhanced with LED light packages, allowing operators a larger and better view.

2. Service and maintenance is another important aspect that should be considered when purchasing a new wheel loader. When daily inspection points are within easy reach, pre-operating and daily checks can be carried out in a timely fashion, minimising downtime. Machines offering easy access to important compartments should be looked out for – routine cleaning and maintenance will be made much easier. The various warranties and service programs offered should also be examined before purchasing. Most manufacturers offer a 2-year full machine factory warranty. These precautions will ensure the wheel loader is kept running in optimal condition for as long as possible. Comfort of the operator should not be ignored, as they often spend large parts of the day in the machine. Air- conditioning, heat and radio can be considered when examining different options. Many wheel loaders now come with spacious cabins with dual air filtration systems and joystick control which help reduce operator fatigue.
