  3. Reasons for withdrawal from national pilot • Lack of flexibility around the agreed scope for the test • The approach we need to take is different to the scope agreed for the test with national CJS agencies • The scope is restrictive of appropriate practices for a Panel

  5. TRAINING • INTRODUCTION FOR VOLUNTEERS • BRIEFING – PARTNERS/MANAGEMENT • ONE DAY RESTORATIVE PRACTICE FOR MULTI AGENCY GROUP OF PRACITIONERS AND VOLUNTEER FACILITATORS • ADDITIONAL TWO DAYS FOR VOLUNTEERS FACILITATORS • TRAIN THE TRAINERS

  6. NRP • FORM OF RESTORATIVE CONFERENCING • FACITLITATED BY COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER • PERSON HAS ADMITTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR HARM CAUSED VICTIM AND PERSON HARM CONSENT PROCESS

  7. SUITABLE FOR: • LOW LEVEL CRIME • ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR • HOUSING DISPUTES • ENVIROMENTAL • OTHER

  8. NOT SUITABLE FOR • DOMESTIC VIOLENCE • INDICTABLE OFFENCES

  9. PANEL STRUCTURE PRESENT AT PANELS: • PERPERTRATOR • VICTIM (AND APPROPRIATE ADULT) OR COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER REPRESENTATIVE • REFERRING AGENCY REPRESENTATIVE NOT • LAWYER, MAGISTRATE IN A LEGAL ROLE OR A ‘CHAIR’

  10. OUTCOMES • INFORMAL, VOLUNTARY, AGREEMENT • Eg – apology- written, verbal statement or explanation • REPARATION FOR THE VICTIM OR COMMUNITY • OTHER If cannot agree acceptable outcome – case referred back to original referring agency for decision or other action

  11. MONITORING - EVALUATION • RECORD DATE – Restorative Practice on the spot with agreed outcome – NRP OUTCOME • Monitor recidivism of outcomes. • Agree and formalise data information process across the partnership.
