FIELD STAFF TRAINING The Field Staff will be provided with rigorous training on all the aspects of Organic Farming and Certification by organic farming and Certification experts on: Organic Standards (NPOP/NSOP, EU- 834/2007 and NOP/USDA ) On-Farm input management (Different Composts and Herbal Sprays) Organic Crops management practices Data recording for Traceability Internal Control System (ICS) and its role in Certification Certification and requirements Marketing of Organic Produce

TYPES OF FARMERS’ TRAINING The registered farmers will be provided with training in three different ways : • Appraisal Training at the time of Registration (Why a Farmer should join the program) • Organized Training of Farmers on all aspects of Organic Farming and Certification by the experts • Refresher Training of Farmers through Cluster meetings and demonstrations on On-Farm inputs preparation and use as a continuous process for three years.
FARMERS’ ORGANIZED TRAINING The registered farmers will be provided with training on all aspects of organic farming , certification and Marketing by experts : Training on need and scope of Organic Farming Organic Standards Selection of proper seeds & planting materials Techniques of management/ preparing Cheaper and eco-friendly on-farm inputs including Biodynamic compost, NADEP compost, CPP compost, vermi compost, vermi wash, beejamrit, jeewamrit, bio-gas etc. Green manuring, crop rotations, inter cropping, Mulching etc. Bio pesticides and bio- fertilizers Contd..

ON-FARM INPUTS MANAGEMENT • Each farmer needs to be trained and motivated through demonstrations to manage ecofriendly & cheaper organic inputs on his / her own farm including: • Seeds and planting materials • NADEP Compost • CPP Compost • Vermi Compost • Vermi Wash • Beejamrit • Jeevamrit • Liquid bio fertilizer-cum-pesticide, • Green Manuring and Crop rotations
CONSTRAINTS IN ON-FARM INPUTS MANAGEMENT The following are major constraints in On-Farm inputs management: Poor or lack of knowledge about eco-friendly On-Farm inputs management & its significance Burning of Manures as fire wood for cooking Burning of Manures of crop residue in the fields to clear the fields for next crop sowing like Paddy, Wheat & Sugarcane straw Low land holding and poor farmers Due to psychological impact the farmers have become depentent on chemical inputs Lack of research and development activity supported by demonstrative studies and critical crop stage interventions
PACKAGE OF PRACTCES FOR ORGANIC FARMING The Package of Practices designed based on the climate and regional suitability including On-Farm inputs management practices, crop rotations and good agricultural practices is the need of the hour
