  1. Enteringa NewResource Home

  2. Overview Resource homes in TNKids can be one of three types: DCS Resource Home, Contract Resource Home, or Shared Resource Home. DCS Resource Home Support Unit staff are responsible for maintaining the information concerning both DCS Resource Homes and Shared Resource Homes. The Provider Vendors are responsible for maintaining the Contract Resource Homes. TNKids will track each independent period of time the same Resource Home is activated, approved, re-approved, closed, cancelled, or denied and later re-activated again as separate Activation-Closure effective histories. There are seven activation period statuses including Pending Approval, Approved Expedited Home, Approved Resource Home, Unapproved Resource Home, Denied Resource Home, Cancelled Resource Home, and Closed Resource Home. A resource home may be placed on Probation, Suspended Admissions, or Pending Inactivation by a user with Update Restricted security.

  3. New Resource Home • The following minimal data requirements are necessary when establishing a new resource home in TNKids: • Activation Date • An 18 or older person must be designated as the Foster Parent. A Foster Co-Parent is optional. • An active residence address for the Person being designated as the Foster Parent • An Initial Inquiry Date • A Region of Ownership for a DCS Foster Home or a Shared Foster Home • A TNKids Financial Vendor ID for a Contract Foster Home or a Shared Foster Home

  4. Approving Adults All Persons 18 years old and above in the Household must be approved. To Be Approved, the person must have: Social Security Number Confirmed with Social Security Administration and verified Date of Birth Confirmed with Social Security Administration and verified Hispanic Origin (for Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretaker) Race (for Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretaker) Primary Language and any Secondary Language (for Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretaker) Medical History Verified Prior Foster Care Experience (Yes/No)? Criminal Records Check Date Fingerprinted Date Fingerprints Results Cleared Date Face-to-Face Contact (with all Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretakers) PATH Intake Meeting Date (for all Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretakers) PATH Training Completed (for all Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretakers) References (including at least name, address, phone number, and relationship) ·3 Non-Relatives (Relationship of Non-Relative or None) ·1 Relative Note: All of these references must not be living in the potential Resource Home

  5. Other Children • Other Children in the home must be approved with the following minimal information: • Medical History verified • Social Security Number Confirmed with Social Security Administration and verified • Date of Birth Confirmed with Social Security Administration and verified

  6. Resource Home Information Initial Inquiry Date Application Date Initial Follow-up Inquiry Date DCS Home Initial Contact Person Family Structure Marriage Certificate Verified if Married Couple Payee Referral Source Home Visit Date

  7. Resource Home Approval At the time of final approval, TNKids requires an Approval Date, Approval Type (if other that Adoptive/Foster), and Maximum Number of Children Allowed.

  8. New Expedited Home • The following minimal data requirements are necessary when establishing a new expedited resource home in TNKids: • Activation Date • An 18 or older person must be designated as the Foster Parent. A Foster Co-Parent is optional. • An active residence address for the Person being designated as the Foster Parent • An Initial Inquiry Date • A Region of Ownership for a DCS Foster Home or a Shared Foster Home • A TNKids Financial Vendor ID for a Contract Foster Home or a Shared Foster Home

Adult Household Members Person over 18 must have: Hispanic Origin (for Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretaker) Race (for Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretaker) Primary Language and any Secondary Language (for Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretaker) Criminal Records Check Date Face-to-Face Contact (with all Foster Parent/Foster Co-Parent/Caretakers) Two References (including at least name, address, phone number, and relationship) Note: Both of these references must not be living in the potential Resource Home

  10. Home Information Initial Inquiry Date Family Structure Application Date Initial Follow-up Inquiry Date DCS Home Initial Contact Person Marriage Certificate Verified if Married Couple Home Visit Date

  11. Approve Expedited At the time of final approval, TNKids requires an Approval Date and Approval Type (if other than Adoptive/Foster). The Approved Expedited Home must have all the other Resource Home requirements met and entered prior to 120 days of the first placement to become an Approved Resource Home. An alert will be issued five days prior to this 120 day deadline. If the Expedited Home is not an Approved Resource Home within the 120 days, a special acknowledgement is required by the Regional Administrator.
