  7. INTERCONNECTIONS: SOCIAL STUDIES AND SCIENCE GRADES 1-3 • Interconnections is a curriculum written specifically for our program that combines social studies and science lessons. • There is no textbook for Interconnections, only lesson plans written by the Utah State Office of Education dual language immersion teams. • Interconnections isn’t taught every day, and some lessons can take several days to complete. • Interconnections is the curriculum area where teachers have more opportunity to give students social language, an important part of Chinese language learning and literacy.

  8. INTERCONNECTIONS: SOCIAL STUDIES AND SCIENCE GRADES 4-6 • Interconnections separates Science and Social Studies in Grades 4-6. • In grades 4 and 5, only Science is taught by the Chinese immersion teacher. In grade 6, only Social Studies is taught by the Chinese immersion teacher. • Again, there is no textbook for Interconnections, only lesson plans written for you by the Utah State Office of Education Chinese dual language immersion team. • As in grades 1-3, Interconnections isn’t taught every day, and some lessons can take several days to complete. • Again, Interconnections is the curriculum area where teachers have more opportunity to give students social language, an important part of Chinese language learning and literacy.

  11. Chinese language for primary schools: singapore materials • 2ND GRADE: • 1B and 2A • 3RD GRADE: • 2B and 3A • 4th GRADE: • 3B and 4A • 5th GRADE: • 4B and 5A • 6TH GRADE: • 5B and 6A The Singapore materials are written for students who are learning Mandarin, simplified, as a second language. Singapore students live in a Chinese immersion environment and speak English at home. This is a situation similar to our students in America. Our classrooms provide the immersion environment. The Singapore materials are rigorous and expect our students to move quickly. We do not teach every lesson; we focus on the lessons that provide the best character- and topical-instruction for our students.
