  4. 2.PROTECT CHILDREN FROM ABUSE, EXPLOITATION, TRAFFICKING AND VIOLENCE

  8. Many children are employed in military or illegal operations in many areas of the world. It is the phenomenon of child soldiers.

  9. 3.PROMOTE THE RULE OF LAW AND ACCESS TO JUSTICE FOR ALL Access to justice is a basic principle of the rule of law. In the absence of access to justice, people are unable to have their voice heard, exercise their rights, challenge discrimination or hold decision-makers accountable

  10. 4. PROTECT FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS Fundamental Freedoms” fncludes those rights considered essential to the functioning of a democracy. They allow individuals and groups to express themselves, and to exercise their right to vote.  For example, freedom of religion, speech, and conscience are fundamental freedoms. It is almost impossible to imagine how a democracy could work without protection for these most basic rights and freedoms.

  11. PREVENT VIOLENCE,TERRORISM AND CRIME.

  12. Organized crime represents one of the main threats to the security of citizens and the survival of democracy. It also operates internationally, managing large illegal trafficking of drugs, weapons and man. • The mafia in Italy (also referred to as "honored society") has centuries-old origins and traditions and played an important role in history, before and after the unification of Italy. • The birth of the phenomenon is still considered uncertain. • The main criminal organizations in Italy are CAMORRA, NDRANGHETA and COSA NOSTRA.

  13. In the picture we can see Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, two magistrates who had become leaders of the struggle against Cosa Nostra, were both murdered in 1992 by savage mafia bombs.

  14. 6. PROMOTE AND ENFORCE NON- DISCRIMINATORY LAWS Anti-discrimination laws protect citizens belonging to minorities or groups against possible violence, persecution or crimes motivated by hatred. In the last century in Italy and Germany discriminatory laws against Jews were approved by Hitler and Mussolini. Millions of Jews were killed for their race.

  15. Importants non-discriminatory Laws are: • IUS SOLI: is a legal expression that indicates the acquisition of citizenship of a country as a consequence of the legal fact of having been born on its territory, regardless of the citizenship of the parents. • CIVIL UNIONS: have been established by law in several, mostly developed, countries in order to provide legal recognition of relationships formed by unmarried same-sex couples and to afford them rights, benefits, tax breaks, and responsibilities similar or identical to those of legally married couples.

  16. PROMOTERS OF PEACE IN THE WORLD MARTIN LUTER KING M.TERESA DI CALCUTTA GANDHI

  17. Every time we turn our heads the other way when we see the law flouted, when we tolerate what we know to be wrong, when we close our eyes and ears to the corrupt because we are too busy or too frightened, when we fail to speak up and speak out, we strike a blow against freedom and decency and justice. Robert F. Kennedy
