  6. Anti-Trust Caution • GS1 and the GSMP operate under the GS1 anti-trust caution. Strict compliance with anti-trust laws is and always has been the policy of GS1. • The best way to avoid problems is to remember that the purpose of the committee is to enhance the ability of all industry members to compete more efficiently. • Participation is voluntary, we are governed by the Agenda. This means: • There shall be no discussion of prices, allocation of customers, products or market share • If any participant believes the group is drifting toward impermissible discussion, the topic shall be tabled until the opinion of counsel can be obtained. • The full anti-trust caution is available in the Community Room if you would like to read it in its entirety

Introduction to the scope of this group • Welcome and thank you for your participation!! • This is the GS1 Data Quality Workgroup, which has been established to develop the next generation suit of data quality tools for the industry. • Our charter defines us as a mission-specific group(i.e. not permanent) focused on the development of the new version of the Data Quality Framework based on the lessons learnt by the industry during 2008/2009’s Data Quality Challenge pilot.

Introduction to the scope of this group (Cont’d) • In concrete, the deliverables we’ve been commissioned with are: • Data Quality Framework version 3.0 In Public review and almost ready for final ratification • Implementation Guides for the Data Quality Framework v3.0 Draft version currently 80% complete • Self-assessment & Master Data KPIs scorecards Under development concept demo available • Training materials for the Data Quality Framework 90 % done, awaiting update based on final deliverables

Introduction to version 3.0 • What’s new in v3.0? • Completely re-written! • Simplifiedstructure • Easier to pick out and use specific sectionsrelevant to the particular circumstances of users • Easier navigation • Requirements for a data quality management system (DQMSR) translated to concrete, measurable process capabilities • Examples and illustrations • General updatesand upgrades

Introduction to version 3.0 (Cont’d) • What’s still found on 3.0? • Self-assessment questionnaire (implementation guides will provide a step by step process for its execution) • Product inspection procedure(explained and expanded) • Plus relevant (though not mandatory) information has been placed in appendices for reference • Crucial processes and capabilities that help organisations improve their data quality and maintain a sustainable good quality data output

  16. Motion document for final ratification • The Data Quality Steering Committee will hold an eBallot to formally ratify the document once all comments have been resolved.

  17. Data Quality Framework V3.0 Support Tools

Implementation Guides v3.0 • Purpose: to provide detailed, step-by-step recommended best practices for the usage of the Data Quality Framework • Status: draft version 80% developed • Our goal today: Check that all relevant/interesting topics are covered and provide suggestions to improve and complete the draft

  19. Scorecards • Purpose: two Excel-based scorecards that provide a basic degree of functionality to apply the self-assessment scorecard and to measure KPIs for master data • Status: Self-assessmentscorecard concept demo available (final version pending final DQ Framework content) and KPI Scorecard to be updated (introduction tabs) • Our goal today: Introduce scorecards to the group and collect any additional feedback/suggestions on them

  20. Other collaterals • In addition to the tools mentioned earlier, training materials and courseswill be soon offered to GS1 Member Organisations and GDSN-Certified Data Pools. These may be re-used in local training offerings. • Communications will be sent to inform and educate of the release of the new version. • Current materials and website will be updated accordingly.

  21. Are we missing anything? • We’ll be happy to hear any ideas and suggestions about anything else that GS1 can do to help you make the most out of the new Data Quality Framework!

  24. Introductory webinars • A series of webinars will be offered to announce the release of the new Data Quality framework and to go on a high-level over the changes. • Stay tuned for the dates!!

  25. Support for GS1 MOs and GDSN-certified Data Pools • In parallel a (classroom) training course for the Data Quality Framework is being developed in collaboration with GS1’s Training Department. • The training course is aimed to ensure all organisations have the necessary knowledge to help their communities use the Data Quality Framework. • The training materials from the course may be re-utilised within local training documentation that GS1 MOs and data pools offer.
