Developing List of Potential 2013 MU Measures • Environmental Scan—12 health systems plus registries • eMeasures for which HIT tools (e.g., CDS, checklists) play an important role in facilitating rapid improvement • eMeasures for which HIT alone is inadequate to facilitate improvement; significant workflow redesign is required • Request to Vendors for Measure List • Measure Suggestions Submitted during NPRM Public Comment Period • Other Pertinent Convening Activities • NQF Agenda-Setting Process for Measure Development • Beacon Community Input (July meeting) • NPP Work Groups • 5. DHHS National Strategy and Priorities Process (timing?)

Identify Options for Generating 2013 Measures • Alternative Paths • Appropriate measures in the NQF portfolio or pipeline • Similar measures in the NQF portfolio or pipeline that might be adapted • Appropriate measures in the field (e.g., health systems, vendors, etc.) that might be brought forward for consideration • Rapid cycle measure development and testing

  5. Next Steps Synthesize input on potential 2013 measures from various sources and identify options for generating these measures Share results with HIT Policy and Standards Committees, and post for public comment Policy Committee meeting in September to identify 2013 measure priorities Standards Committee recommends measures that align with HIT Policy Committee’s priorities ONC identifies candidate measures and DHHS initiates process for generating measures within the requisite time period
