READ: EZEKIEL 9:1-2 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 1 Then He called out in my hearing with a loud voice, saying, "Let those who have charge over the city draw near, each with a deadly weapon in his hand." 2 And suddenly six men came from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with his battle-ax in his hand. One man among them was clothed with linen and had a writer's inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar.

QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:1 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 1 Then He called out in my hearing with a loud voice, saying, "Let those who have charge over the city draw near, each with a deadly weapon in his hand." WHO DID THE LORD WANT EZEKIEL TO CALL? WHAT DID THIS PRIEST DO? READ: 2 KINGS 11:18 18 And all the people of the land went to the temple of Baal, and tore it down. They thoroughly broke in pieces its altars and images, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD. NKJV

HOW WAS AARON CLOTHED? WHY? READ: LEVITICUS 16:4 4 He shall put the holy linen tunicandthe linen trousers on his body; he shall be girded with a linen sash, and with the linen turban he shall be attired. These are holy garments. Therefore he shall wash his body in water, and put them on. NKJV

WHO WAS RECORDED AMONG THE LIVING IN ZION? READ: ISAIAH 4:3 3 And it shall come to pass that he who is left in Zionandremains in Jerusalem will be called holy — everyone who is recorded among the living in Jerusalem. NKJV

WHOSE NAMES ARE IN THE BOOK OF LIFE? READ: REVELATION 3:5 5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. And He called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer's inkhorn at his side; 4 and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it."

READ: 1 SAMUEL 4:21-22 21 She named the child Ichabod, saying, "The glory has departed from Israel!" because the ark of God had been captured and because of her father-in-law and her husband. 22 She said, "The glory has departed from Israel, for the ark of God has been captured." WHAT DID GOD TELL HIM TO DO? WHY MARK THEIR FOREHEADS? WHAT DID THE LORD DO TO CAIN? WHY? READ: GENESIS 4:15 15 And the LORD said to him, "Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD set a mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him. NKJV

READ: EXODUS 12:7 7 And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. NKJV WHY PUT BLOOD ON THE DOORPOSTS & THE LINTEL? READ: EXODUS 12:13 13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. NKJV

WHY DID THE ANGLE TELL LOT TO HURRY? READ: GENESIS 19:21-22 21 And he said to him, "See, I have favored you concerning this thing also, in that I will not overthrow this city for which you have spoken. 22 Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there.“ Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

WHY DID THE LORD MARK THE RIGHTEOUS? READ: REVELATION 7:3 3 "Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads." WHAT ABOUT THE UNRIGHTEOUS? READ: REVELATION 9:4 4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

WHAT DID THE LORD TELL HIS PEOPLE TO DO? READ: ISAIAH 26:20-21 20 Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past. 21 For behold, the LORD comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no more cover her slain. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:4 4 and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.“ WHY MARK THEIR FOREHEADS? WHAT DID THE LORD TELL JEREMIAH TO DO? WHY? READ: JEREMIAH 7:29-30 29 Cut off your hair and cast it away,and take up a lamentation on the desolate heights; for the LORD has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath.' 30 For the children of Judah have done evil in My sight," says the LORD. "They have set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to pollute it.

  22. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:4 WHY MARK THEIR FOREHEADS? WHAT IS THE LORD PLANNING TO DO? READ: JEREMIAH 25:29 29 For behold, I begin to bring calamity on the city which is called by My name, and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished, for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth," says the LORD of hosts.' NKJV READ: JEREMIAH 46:10 10 For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, A day of vengeance, That He may avenge Himself on His adversaries. The sword shall devour; It shall be satiated and made drunk with their blood; For the Lord GOD of hosts has a sacrifice In the north country by the River Euphrates. NKJV

QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:4 4 and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.“ WHY MARK THEIR FOREHEADS? WHAT IS THE LORD PLANNING TO DO? READ: AMOS 9:9-10 9 "For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground. 10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, 'The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.' NKJV

  24. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:4 IS THERE A MESSAGE FOR US TODAY? READ: 2 PETER 2:4-11 4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; 7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds) —

  25. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:4 IS THERE A MESSAGE FOR US TODAY? READ: 2 PETER 2:4-11 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, 11 whereas angels,who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord. NKJV

READ: EZEKIEL 9:5-6 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 5 To the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. 6 Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." So they began with the elders who were before the temple.

QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:5-6 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 5 To the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. 6 Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." So they began with the elders who were before the temple. WHAT DID THE LORD TELL THE OTHERS TO DO? WHO WERE THEY SENT TO SLAY? WHY? WHERE WOULD THEM BEGIN THE SLAYING? WHY THE ELDERS?

  28. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:5 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN WHAT DID THE LORD TELL MOSES TO DO? WHY? READ: EXODUS 32:25-28 25 Now when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained (for Aaron had not restrained them, to their shame among their enemies), 26 then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, "Whoever is on the LORD‘S side — come to me!" And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him. 27 And he said to them, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel: 'Let every man put his sword on his side, and go in and out from entrance to entrance throughout the camp, and let every man kill his brother,every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.'" 28 So the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And about three thousand men of the people fell that day. NKJV

  29. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:5 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 5 To the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. WHAT DID THE LORD SAY HE WOULD DO? READ: ISAIAH 13:17-18 17 "Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, Who will not regard silver; And as for gold, they will not delight in it. 18 Also their bows will dash the young men to pieces, And they will have no pity on the fruit of the womb; Their eye will not spare children. NKJV READ: JEREMIAH 13:14 14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together," says the LORD. "I will not pity nor spare nor have mercy, but will destroy them."'"

  30. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:6 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 6 Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." So they began with the elders who were before the temple. WHO WERE THEY SENT TO SLAY? WHY? WHERE WOULD THEM BEGIN THE SLAYING? READ: 2 CHRONICLES 36:17 17 Therefore He brought against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, on the aged or the weak; He gave them all into his hand. NKJV

They shall not be buried; neither shall men lament for them, cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them. READ: ZECHARIAH 13:9 9 I will bring the one-third through the fire, Will refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say, 'This is My people'; And each one will say, 'The LORD is my God.'" NKJV READ: ZECHARIAH 14:2 2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. NKJV

READ: 1 PETER 4:17-18 17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now "If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?" And they went out and killed in the city. 8 So it was, that while they were killing them, I was left alone; and I fell on my face and cried out, and said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury on Jerusalem?"

And they went out and killed in the city. 8 So it was, that while they were killing them, I was left alone; and I fell on my face and cried out, and said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury on Jerusalem?" HOW WOULD THEY DEFILE THE TEMPLE? HOW DID EZEKIEL RESPOND TO THIS? WHAT DID HE SAY TO THE LORD?

  36. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:7 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 7 Then He said to them, "Defile the temple, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!" And they went out and killed in the city. HOW WOULD THEY DEFILE THE TEMPLE? READ: NUMBERS 19:11-12 11 'He who touches the dead body of anyone shall be unclean seven days. NKJV

  37. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:8 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 8 So it was, that while they were killing them, I was left alone; and I fell on my face and cried out, and said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury on Jerusalem?" HOW DID EZEKIEL RESPOND TO THIS? WHAT DID ACHAN DO AT AI? WHY DID JOSHUA LOSE THE BATTLE AT AI? HOW DID JOSHUA RESPOND TO THIS?

  38. QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:8 "Ah, Lord GOD! Will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury on Jerusalem?" HOW DID EZEKIEL RESPOND TO THIS? HOW DID JOSHUA RESPOND TO THIS? READ: JOSHUA 7:6-7 6 Then Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the LORD until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads. 7 And Joshua said, "Alas, Lord GOD, why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all — to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan! NKJV

READ: EZEKIEL 9:9-11 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 9 Then He said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD does not see!' 10 And as for Me also, My eye will neither spare, nor will I have pity, but I will recompense their deeds on their own head." 11 Just then, the man clothed with linen, who had the inkhorn at his side, reported back and said, "I have done as You commanded me." NKJV

QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:9-11 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 9 Then He said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD does not see!' 10 And as for Me also, My eye will neither spare, nor will I have pity, but I will recompense their deeds on their own head." 11 Just then, the man clothed with linen, who had the inkhorn at his side, reported back and said, "I have done as You commanded me." NKJV WHAT DID THE LORD SAY TO EZEKIEL? WHAT DID THE MAN CLOTHED IN LINEN SAY?

QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:9 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 9 Then He said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD does not see!' WHAT DID THE LORD SAY TO EZEKIEL? WHAT DID THE PSALMIST SAY? READ: PSALMS 58:1-2 1 Do you indeed speak righteousness, you silent ones? Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men? 2 No, in heart you work wickedness; You weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth. NKJV

QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 9:9 THE WICKED ARE SLAIN 9 Then He said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD does not see!' WHAT DID THE LORD SAY TO EZEKIEL? WHAT DID JEREMIAH SAY TO THE LORD? READ: JEREMIAH 12:1-2 1 Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with You Yet let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously? 2 You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; They grow, yes, they bear fruit. You are near in their mouth But far from their mind. NKJV
