  2. Experience Editor-in-chief of high school newspaper “The Explorer” 2006-2007 Managed the production of my high schools monthly student publication, “The Explorer”. Responsibilities included laying out the paper, assigning stories to reporters, managing staff writers and fellow editors, copyediting articles, and reporting and writing individual stories. Filmed and edited a 30 minute Documentary 2007 Filmed and edited over the course of a year, the film premiered during an independent film festival at Paddy’s Café in Union City, California. The documentary featured the life and times of skateboarders from Union City and Hayward. Filmed and edited 5-minute promotional short 2009 Created a 5-minute short delving into the poverty-stricken neighborhood of Baseco, a small province in Manila, Philippines. The short is currently used a fundraising tool to help raise funds used towards creating infrastructure in the village.

  6. The Spartan Daily • 2009-2010 • Staff Writer • Currently I am on the staff of SJSU’s Spartan Daily, the university’s student-run newspaper. Responsibilities include reporting and writing articles, copy editing stories, compiling story ideas and taking photos. Responsible for writing 33+ news, opinion, a&e, sports and tech stories. • 2010-2011 • Tech Editor, Assistant Multimedia Editor • Next semester I will be returning to The Spartan Daily as the publication’s tech editor and assistant multimedia editor. As a tech editor, my responsibilities include assigning tech stories to writers, laying out the tech page in the newspaper, and copy editing incoming tech stories. Position requires micromanagement of reporters and schedule. • As the assistant multimedia editor, my responsiblities will include helping reporters produce multimedia pieces, tutoring others in the use of mulimedia programs such as Soundslides and Final Cut Pro and helping reporters flesh out idea for multimedia pieces.
